Review: Grease with The Luna Cinema

Review: Grease with The Luna Cinema

It's the collective experience which makes Luna Cinema screenings so special, not to mention the stunning locations chosen.

Summer loving had me a blast… summer loving happened so fast… I met a girl crazy for me… met a boy cute as can be…

I always look forward to Luna Cinema's open air cinema screenings at the stunning and majestic Lulworth Castle - watching a movie under the stars while sipping a hot chocolate is not something you do every day… especially not when you're watching the movie against the backdrop of the castle.

The Luna Cinema is one of the UK's top outdoor cinema experiences, bringing a range of fantastic movies to the best outdoor locations across the UK. From ruined abbeys to country manor houses, to swimming pools - you name it, they do it!

I arrived at Lulworth Castle with my blanket, slippers, popcorn and a warmed up singing voice ready to join in with all the other movie-lovers for Grease. Regularly voted the ultimate feel-good movie, Grease never fails to lift your spirits. Set in the 50s, it's the film which catapulted John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John to stardom. Their musical romance as high school sweethearts continues to charm new generations. Despite not having seen the movie for a few years, the songs were etched in my memory and it was a lot of fun singing along with hundreds of other people. It's the collective experience which makes Luna Cinema screenings so special, not to mention the stunning locations chosen.Thankfully the weather remained dry, and despite a few momentary technical glitches (perfect time to pop to the bar and purchase another delicious Chaplin & Cork's cider!) the evening was perfect. As the stars came out, so did the blankets, just in time for Rizzo to realise her true feelings for Kenickie.

Soaking up the last of the English summer, the evening was made all the more memorable by one man popping the question to his girlfriend on the big screen right before the movie began.

I really mean it when I say that I cannot wait for The Luna Cinema to return to Dorset once again next year - roll on 2016! Keep your eye on the website for all news, screenings and updates.
